  1. IVF and Acupuncture

    Monday, February 18, 2013

After 9 months of Lupron and Norethindrone, my OB-GYN advised my DH and me to start on IVF and acupuncture. The two IVF recommendations my OB recommended do not accept insurance. The IVF facilities that are covered by insurance have so-so rating.

It has been a long, exhausting and emotional journey for my DH and me. And I found out the next few months will be just as trying. After making an appointment with the IVF specialist, we will be able to see him in 2 weeks. We also made an appointment to see the acupuncturist, we were able to see the acupuncturist in 1 week. My acupuncturist gave us a free 30 minute consultation. After the consultation, he gave us a list that's 3 pages long of what to eat/not eat and when to eat it and gave us an idea of what to expect during the IVF process.

He mentioned that he would need at least 2-3 months to work with us to get my meridians aligned. The process that he goes through with us will eventually give us better quality of eggs to work with during IVF. Since my DH and I have been trying for  a year and a half, we are anxious to start a family. We have not made up our minds as to continue with the acupuncturist or not. But he gave us hope that the we will be able to start a family soon.

Here is the situation: Currently I'm super stressed out about my job, we are trying to start a family (The stress at work isn't really helping. My OB has asked me to take things easy.), and I'm currently going through a Yoga Teacher Training program to become a certified yoga instructor. Everything has its own impact on my well-being. I'm hoping after our acupuncture and IVF cycles, we'll be able to start a family. We have spent endless time and funds to start a family.
